Evaluation Question Four

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? There is a range of different technologies that we used that allowed me to be able to create and publish my promotional package. Firstly, blogger, this was great for me to be able to use as it gave a free online platform meaning I could upload research and planning whilst being able to upload my poster, magazine and trailer. I used google to research the different methods there are within an action, thriller and crime trailer. This helped me gain an understanding to what the audience would want to see. When researching it was important for me to find other trailers related to my genre. I soon found that I was able to identify the key conventions of a trailer and was able to link them to our film idea. We also used YouTube. This was very helpful as it helped me study existing trailers for the matching genre. When researching I looked into big name trailer to help gain a fu...

Film Poster Analysis

Here I have analysed the film "Sin City". This film, like ours is an action thriller and uses detectives to convey this. Therefore I decided to analyse it.

Final Trailer

Here is my final trailer. As you can see it goes with most of the conventions of a trailer along with the structure of how it runs. It sets the scene well and edited clips to create a montage. This conveys a sense of excitement.

Final Film Logo

Image
We designed our movie logo on Serif PagePlus using a font I downloaded called Fugaz One. Initially we had planned for our logo to be in some sort of detective badge but everything I tried looked a bit silly. When making this logo I was going for an action film kind of design while relating it to the police hence the navy colour. As you can see below I have also made a black coloured version because I am undecided about which one to use as the black also looks good. The gun symbol represents the films story and adds a nice finish to the text. My group and myself think the logo in either colour suits our movie well and will be using for our film trailer and distribution advertisement.

First Draft

Here is our first draft of our film trailer. What we wish to adapt to it is a voice over, mute certain aspects to the trailer and add in more clips to the montage and obviously the ending to the trailer.

Film Distribution

A2 Media Film Distribution Film Distribution What is Film Distribution? Film Distribution is the conduit between Film Production and Film Exhibition. The Distribution process markets the film and organises the kind of release the film has. Acquiring the Rights Distributors acquire the rights to a film; they generally do this in 3 ways. 1. Investing in it 2. Buying the rights after it’s made (often applies to independent films). Some independent films will pre-sell the film rights (before production) as a way of raising production finance. 3. By being part of a multinational corporation in the first place. Some of the big distributors remain (such as 20th Century Fox) part of a larger corporation. To a certain extent the Studio System still exists. Test Screenings All major films are test screened before release. Small audiences, probably representative of the target audience, will watch a film and then be asked for their response to the film. • Did they under...
